Andrew makes it 2 in a row in Ulster Lake Championships

On an extremely challenging fishing day on the wonderful Lough Sheelin Andrew Rea from the Banbridge club has retained his title as Ulster champion once again after his success on Lough Melvin last year. Bright Sunshine and no wind made the lake mirrior like for the whole day. Anglers had to revert to the nymph fishing tactics with the majority choosing to fish a team of buzzers or Diawl Bachs either with a bung or straight line. Buzzers accounted for the majority of the catch. A total of 7 trout were caught and safely returned from only 6 anglers with Andrew capturing 2 fish to make him an emphatic winner. His boat partner Larry Gibb also captured a fish to secure his place on Ulster inter-provincial team. Eamonn Ross from L.S.P.T.A was second with his club collegaue Nigel Greene in third.

The full set of results is now available in the Senior Lakes Results section.

As there were not enough fish caught to fill out the Inter-Provincial team for Lough Lene on August 17th placings from last year were considered when selecting this.  Ulster Interprovincial Team 2024
